Competitions Overview

Upper level law students have the opportunity to practice their lawyering skills through competitions involving negotiation, moot court, and mock trial.

Moot Court

Second- and third-year law students have the opportunity to compete in the intra-school UCI Law Moot Court Program, in which students write their briefs in teams of two, but argue as individuals. Additionally, UCI Law sends send teams to national and international competitions.

Jessup Moot Court

Second- and third-year law students have the opportunity to compete in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, the world’s largest moot court competition.

Mock Trial

The 1L Competition offers first-year UCI Law students the opportunity to participate in a competitive mock trial competition against other first-year UCI Law students. The 2L/3L Competition provides an opportunity for second-year and third-year UCI Law students to compete against each other and gain additional practice and experience.
